Rockwood Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf facility located in Fort Worth, Texas.
Rockwood Golf Course first opened for play in 1938. The course was designed by John Bredemus. The course was redesigned later and upgraded by Ralph Plummer. For a number of years the course had 3 nine-hole courses, the Red, White and Blue nines. The Blue nine closed in 2006. Thank you James Stith (ranking made 12/13/09) for tipping us of to the closing of the Blue nine.
Rockwood Golf Course is a par 71 and plays to 6,350 yards from the Championship tees, 6,080 from the White tees and 5,502 from the Red tees. There are just a handful of bunkers and the course is a great example of the old style of golf course architecture.

This is no longer a 27 hole course, the blue 9 is gone.
As a side note: Their website also mentions that they have a separate scorecard and tee boxes for youth golfers, which is why we chose to go there. However, when we got there we found no evidence of it, and the person running the pro shop was not familiar with it. Too bad, I think more courses, especially the municipal ones, should feature youth tee boxes. How can you grow the game if you do not accomodate beginners?
